Political culture of the population as a resource for the reproduction of cultural practices and values:
a scientific discourse and research model
The relevance of the study is determined by the need to overcome reductionist interpretations of an individual’s political culture, which reduce it to electoral behavior, and by the need for a holistic systemic model that would reveal its internal structure and dynamics of formation. The completed work represents a comprehensive theoretical and methodological analysis of scientific discourse, which allowed for a critical synthesis of classical and modern approaches to defining political culture. The authors proposed an original concept that integrates the achievements of sociology, political science, and political psychology. The main result of the study is the development of a systemic model for studying a person’s political culture, which reveals it as a complex dynamic formation. The model is structurally represented by five interconnected components (cognitive, value, emotional, motivational, and behavioral) and their results (political consciousness, values, motives, and behavior patterns). The concept of reproduction of a person’s political culture is defined. The conclusions of the article formulate important theoretical provisions: political culture is realized through identification, choice, and action, forming an individual’s political capital; its reproduction is cyclical, mediated by political socialization and adaptation; the external presentation of culture and the volume of political capital depend significantly on the opportunities and constraints generated by the political system. The proposed model enables the creation of a new tool for the empirical study of the political-cultural profiles of social groups and the political potential of communities.
