Youth of the home front: reality, lessons, consequences

The article analyzes the activities of the Soviet youth, which they carried out during the Great Patriotic War on the home front. It presents real-life examples that surpass the capabilities of young people in terms of volume.  The author also pays attention to the process of realizing such qualities of youth as patriotism, ability to work, ingenuity, competitiveness, sacrifice, dedication, labor activity, manifested in daily activities. The article shows the forms and types of participation in the performance of industrial and military tasks of students, working and rural youth in factories, railways, mines, fields and collective farms, manifestations of labor heroism in all the difficulties of the socio-economic situation of youth.  The article analyzes the specifics of labor, expressed, among other things, in the use of adolescent labor. Attention is paid to the issue of training the home front, both its army and working units. The article considers the socio-cultural resources of youth, manifested in the collection of aid, patronage of both howling and hospitals, cultural and educational work involving children. The lessons that can be learned from young people's participation in logistical work are clear: united by noble ideals and dedication to the state, they selflessly followed the honourable principles. They were inspired by the history of their country, and they were proud of Soviet life, their education, cultural experiences, and the rights they had received under Soviet rule. Analyzing the consequences, it is concluded that labor valor was continued in participation in restoration work, on virgin lands, and construction sites in Siberia with the sacrifice and competitiveness characteristic of youth.
