Traditional values and youth: the problem of internalization

Traditional values are the basis of the national idea and the foundation of socialization of modern youth. The existing contradiction between the systemic declaration and transmission of traditional values and the success of their internalization by young people determines the importance of searching for methodological and methodical approaches to studying the processes of their adoption. The article considers the results of the 2024 monitoring proyect, 'Social Strategies of Regional Youth' (n = 5847, Belgorod region), which used the assessment of the social environment and the values visible in the regional space to demonstrate the gaps caused by socialisation problems and the ineffectiveness of the proposed approaches and methods for supporting the internalisation of values among young people. The division of values into groups according to the level of unity in interiorization made it possible to establish that human-measured values are most successfully assimilated by young people, and the greatest unity is achieved in relation to the value of Life, Rights, Dignity, Freedom, Morality and Mutual Respect. The values of civil society are usually at the second level of acceptance, showing problems with the internalization of such important values for our society as Patriotism and Service to the Fatherland. Based on the results of the expert study, the possibility of using the involvement of young people in public events as a way to increase the success of the processes of value internalization was determined, and a matrix of reproduction of values through public events and practices was built. Based on the expert survey, groups of value-intensive events were identified that can primarily be recommended for educational and upbringing programs in educational institutions. Such events include the organization and holding of cultural events, assistance to the elderly and elderly people, work with orphans and children from disadvantaged families, public volunteering, assistance to the military, persons participating in the Special Military Operation and their families, assistance in hospitals and clinics, assistance to refugees.
