The article deals with the problems of encouraging people to participate in crowdsourcing projects, as well as incentives for this activity. On the basis of the theoretical and factual material, the author discusses the definition of crowdsourcing and crowdsourcing project, highlights its positive aspects and determines its performance criteria. On the basis of the sociological research, the author determines the main motivational techniques used in crowdsourcing, as well as the possible means of encouragement. The article also describes conditions under which the motivation of participants of a crowdsourcing project would be maximum.
