On the role of the Academic school of Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod in the formation
of Russian sociology of childhood (on the anniversary of its Head, Z. M. Saralieva)
The relevance of the study lies in the imperative to comprehend and systematize the accumulated scientific knowledge in the field of the sociology of childhood. The main research problem is defined through the current insufficiency of knowledge that would allow tracing the processes of institutionalization of new directions in sociological science and determining the role of academic schools in the formation of a middle-range theory – the sociology of childhood. The work is based on a substantive and statistical analysis of texts from published articles in academic journals – with special emphasis on articles in the Bulletin of Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod – as well as dissertations and final qualification papers submitted to competitions in sociology of childhood. The evolution of perspectives on general theoretical problems of childhood is substantiated; the directions and levels of activity of researchers in the field of the sociology of childhood are identified. The analysis of articles and other publications by members of the research team demonstrates the role of experienced professional scholars and educators, as well as the mechanisms for involving newcomers in research activities. Generalizing the experience of the academic school headed by Z. M. Saralieva at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Lobachevsky State University makes it possible to state the consolidation of researchers in the given scientific domain. The significance of the academic journal in the categorization, the creation of a stable thesaurus, and the development of sociotechniques for studying child audiences is revealed. The results obtained in thфis article lead to the conclusion that the study of the development of Russian science should include the analysis of directions, levels, patterns, and trends in its growth, as well as the inclusion of scientific school activity indicators into the scope of science management.
