A sociological analysis of the traditional values of modern students (based on the materials of Qingdao)

This article provides a sociological analysis of the traditional values of Chinese students. The empirical basis of the work was the results of a sociological study of traditional values conducted among students of the Qingdao Hengxing University of Science and Technology (Qingdao, China) in September 2024 (342 respondents). The purpose of this study was to find out how students perceive such traditional values as family, work, and love of the Motherland. To what extent do they continue to be the baseline that informs the worldviews and behavioural practices of today's Chinese youth? In the course of the study, students were asked to select those components of the studied traditional values that they considered the most important, and also to evaluate each of them on a five-point scale, 1 – the least important, and 5 – the most important. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained, the following conclusions were drawn. The influence of traditional values on modern youth remains an urgent issue at the present time. It is traditional values such as historical memory, pride in one's cultural heritage, love for the Motherland, work, and family that are the stable basis on which the worldviews and behavioral practices of modern youth and society as a whole are formed.
