The purpose of the article is to analyze the characteristics, factor determinants and mechanisms of political thinking of young people in the Russian space of their political choice and self-identification. The article is based on the results of a 2021 study on the political thinking of Russian youth. The study involved 4,215 young respondents aged 16 to 35, representing 5 regions of the Russian Federation (Belgorod region, Ulyanovsk, Oryol, Sverdlovsk regions and Altai Territory), divided into groups of students and working youth. The article presents factorial models for assessing and making a decision on a political situation, a political program or decision, and on a political leader. The rank of groups of decision-making factors for a political leader is determined based on his demographic characteristics. Based on the assessments of young people, it can be concluded that for the majority of young people, modern policies do not meet their expectations.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The political choice of young people, their political decisions, assessments and dispositions, become in modern conditions a factor that determines the future political vector of the state.
