It substantiates the significance of studying the relationship to religious holidays as one of the indicators of being in good standing. The empirical basis of the article is the results of a questionnaire survey conducted in June 2016 at Ivanovo State University and Ivanovo State Energy University on a stratified proportional sample. The following indicators were used to characterize the level of religiosity and being in good standing: religious and confessional identity, the frequency and motivation for visiting the church, the knowledge of the Gospels and the other religious books, the knowledge of prayers and the frequency of praying, observing fasts and the understanding of their sense. The attitude to holidays was investigated in cognitive and practical aspects. The results of the survey were compared with the data from other surveys, as well as with the methodological and theoretical provisions of the concepts of Russian and foreign sociologists.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article emphasizes the importance of studying the process of churching and being in good standing in modern Russian sociology as its result.
