THE FUTURE OF RUSSIA IN A GLOBALISED WORLD: THE LESSONS FROM EAST AND WEST

This article outlines the spread of global corporations and the consequent dependency of states in the periphery of the world system. Regions became important political and economic actors. Russia is shown to be a minor player. In this context the Eurasian Union is considered as an alternative regional bloc. Its future development is not determined and three different scenarios of its development are discussed in the paper.
